Pelere, na l\u00edngua Acholi do norte do Uganda, significa processar, transformar. \u00c9 um nome adequado para uma empresa que pega num dos recursos agr\u00edcolas mais antigos da regi\u00e3o \u2014 o karit\u00e9 Nilotica \u2014 e o transforma desde a \u00e1rvore at\u00e9 ao produto final, da explora\u00e7\u00e3o rural \u00e0 prateleira urbana. Sandra Letio n\u00e3o construiu apenas um neg\u00f3cio em torno dessa transforma\u00e7\u00e3o. Construiu toda uma cadeia de valor, demonstrando que uma mulher de Gulu pode lev\u00e1-la at\u00e9 ao mercado global.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quando Sandra foi distinguida como 1\u00aa Finalista na categoria de L\u00edder Resiliente e Inspiradora do WAYA, o Pelere Group j\u00e1 operava em dois locais rurais \u2014 Matugga (distrito de Wakiso) e Layibi (Gulu) \u2014 com uma equipa de 150 pessoas, maioritariamente mulheres e jovens. O pr\u00e9mio n\u00e3o criou o seu impulso, mas amplificou-o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">O primeiro movimento concreto foi a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o estrat\u00e9gica do pr\u00e9mio. Cerca de 2.500 USD foram investidos em maquinaria para a f\u00e1brica de Matugga, enquanto 5.500 USD foram destinados \u00e0 aquisi\u00e7\u00e3o de um ve\u00edculo de distribui\u00e7\u00e3o \u2014 um investimento simples, mas crucial para resolver um dos maiores desafios do setor: garantir entregas eficientes sem comprometer margens. Ap\u00f3s conclu\u00edda e enviada para Gulu, esta m\u00e1quina permitiu aumentar a capacidade produtiva de 10 toneladas por m\u00eas para 10 toneladas por dia \u2014 uma transforma\u00e7\u00e3o estrutural no potencial do neg\u00f3cio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ao fim de um ano, o equipamento j\u00e1 estava instalado, com v\u00e1rios contentores de 40 p\u00e9s integrados nas opera\u00e7\u00f5es. O foco passou do processamento local para a prepara\u00e7\u00e3o para exporta\u00e7\u00e3o. As receitas cresceram 15%, impulsionadas por melhorias na log\u00edstica, efici\u00eancia aduaneira e expans\u00e3o comercial. Sandra desenvolveu compet\u00eancias s\u00f3lidas em com\u00e9rcio internacional \u2014 documenta\u00e7\u00e3o, conformidade e normas \u2014 posicionando a empresa para mercados regionais e globais. A presen\u00e7a na plataforma Alibaba formalizou essa ambi\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As ra\u00edzes comunit\u00e1rias mantiveram-se centrais. No primeiro ano, foram criados 30 novos empregos diretos em \u00e1reas como log\u00edstica, opera\u00e7\u00e3o de m\u00e1quinas e gest\u00e3o de produ\u00e7\u00e3o, al\u00e9m de 180 oportunidades no ecossistema mais amplo. Cerca de 2.000 pequenos agricultores passaram a integrar a cadeia de valor, e 1.500 mulheres e jovens receberam forma\u00e7\u00e3o em gest\u00e3o de neg\u00f3cios e exporta\u00e7\u00e3o.
